Sunday 1st July 2007
I had a lovely time with mummy and daddy today. They put us behind a screen and I was allowed to
snuggle down mummy's top and get 'skin to skin' contact with her.
The nurses tell me this is called kangaroo care, because I can keep close to mummy like a baby kangaroo in its mummy's pouch. It was lovely and warm, and made me feel very close to mummy. I met my other godmother Jenny today. She came to visit me all the way from Birmingham. She brought me a lovely piggy bank to put my savings into, which is very bright and colourful. Hopefully Jenny will visit me again soon.
I have put on another whole ounce today, which means that I am 3lb 1oz. I am drinking a massive 4ml of milk per hour now, and by tomorrow lunchtime this will be 5ml per hour, so I think this will mean that I get big and strong very quickly, so that I can come home and be with mummy and daddy all the time. I know they, and lots of other people are praying hard that this will happen as soon as possible. I am going to do my best to grow fast, so that we can be a proper family at home together. I hear that I have a lovely nursery decked out like a 'baby jungle' with elephants, giraffes, hippos and tortoises, which I am very much looking forward to seeing. I also have a very trendy pramette that Granny Meikle bought for me, which I am excited about taking for a spin!

Hello my darling Harriet and welcome to the world. It was wonderful to see you again yesterday. You make me so happy my heart feels as though it will burst. It was lovely to give you your dummy yesterday and be able to touch you for the first time.
I hope it won't be long before I can give you a proper hug and cuddles.
Lots of love and kisses

Wow aren't you a clever little girl, Harriet? 3lbs and 1oz that's fantastic. It's lovely to read how you've been getting along. Stay strong and give Mummy and Daddy a smile from us!
Lots of Love

Hello Harriet,
You don't know me, I'm a friend of your Granny Judy's who I work with. She's told me all about you and how much she loves you. It's wonderful to see you, what a fabulous idea to keep a diary like this. You're very beautiful and a real fighter too. I had a little baby boy called Freddy on 5th June, he says it's because you're a Gemini like him that makes you so strong. We both think it's great that you're doing so well, and send you and your Mummy and Daddy our best wishes. We'll be sure to keep an eye on your progress. With love from Beccy and Freddy. xx
It is great to see you snuggled up to Mummy. Keep piling on the weight
