Thursday 28th February 2008

I am officially a big girl, as I am now allowed in my Maclaren buggy. It's for babies over 6 months old, and as I'm 6 months corrected age I can go out on the town in style. I think it's very cool, and that I look very big in it. I can't really nod off in it like my other buggy, but it's fun all the same. Guess what? I went to nursery again today. I stayed there by myself for a whole 3 and a bit hours. I had a right laugh with the other children and the ladies looking after us. I even had my breakfast there. I made mummy a lovely mother's day card with my handprints on it, so she was very pleased. Mummy and daddy tried the 'when mumy goes back to work' morning routine, and it worked well. I also had my passport photo taken this afternoon, so that I can get my passport for going to Austria in May. Mummy says I look like a convict, but the photographer was very impressed, as he only had to take one photo, and it was right first time. It was the only time I've looked at a camera and been told NOT to smile! I've been practising sitting up again. I sat up very well for grandpa on Tuesday, and again when I went to play with my friend Ava yesterday afternoon. I saw my friend Isobel on Tuesday as well. Mummy took Isobel and I for a walk whilst Isobel's mummy Jayne had an appointment with Monika the lovely natural health practitioner. I was in my buggy, and Isobel was strapped to mummy. I was a bit jealous, but then Isobel is 5lb lighter than me, so I think it was easier for mummy that way round! Mummy said it was like having twins! Talking of which, they still haven't arrived yet, but fingers crossed we'll see them soon - maybe even this weekend! I'm going to be weighed again tomorrow, so we'll see if I've managed to pile on any more pounds. I wouldn't be surprised if I have ;-).

Monday 25th February 2008

Hello. Me again. Another Monday has come round, and mummy and I finally got back to buggyfit after a long break due to mummy's operation, and then half term. We exercised hard with before heading off to my friend Nia's house to have our photo shoot with her mummy Lisa. It was great fun, and after a little bit of persuasion I giggled and laughed a lot for the camera. You'll just have to be patient to see the end results, but I think they're going to look fab. Lisa is a very good photographer. I caught up with Granny and Grandpa Meikle and Great Aunty Liz over the weekend. They came to visit on Saturday, and I got some presents from them. A lovely summer dress and some warm booties. Then Aunty Shellie and Uncle Chris came down for lunch on Sunday. Aunty Shellie brought her official health visitor scales with her and weighed me, and get what? I've burst through the 20lb barrier, and now weigh 20lb 2oz. That means I'm in the 75th centile for my uncorrected age (June 9th), so I feel very proud of myself. Aunty Shellie thought I was doing very well, and played with me a lot. She has a nice round tummy with a new little cousin for me inside it, so I'm looking forward to meeting my new cousin in July. My other cousins still haven't arrived yet, but I think they'll be here very soon...

Friday 22nd February 2008

Oh dear, I did give my tummy bug to Oscar. I feel very guilty. But he's okay now I hear, thank goodness. As for me, after decorating mummy a few more times with the contents of my stomach, I'm now fit as a fiddle, and eating lots to make up for my few days of a strict banana, milk and water diet! So my week didn't really pan out as planned. My walk on Monday had to be cancelled, as did my photo shoot at Lisa's house on Tuesday. Lisa is one of mummy's NCT pals and she's a bit handy with the camera, so she's going to take a few arty pics of me. We'll be doing that on Monday now instead, so I'd better make sure I get some beauty sleep over the weekend. My pal Poppy had a virus, and I didn't want to give her my tummy bug, so I didn't see her on Wednesday as planned, but instead I met up with my friend Amelia. It seemed safe to meet with her, as I think she was the one I caught the bug from in the first place, so I couldn't give it back to her. And she had the cold that I had last week, so I think we must have exchanged germs when we went out for lunch last Friday. Anyway we had a lovely time playing together, and got some well needed fresh air too. On Thursday I spent time all by myself at nursery. Mummy left me there for a whole hour by myself. The nice ladies there played with my and changed my nappy, and I got to meet lots of new friends. I'll go back for a whole morning by myself next Thursday. Then today I finally got to meet my new pal Amy. What she doesn't know is that I met her when she was in her mummy's tummy! But now I've met her in person. I can't wait until she's big enough to play with me properly. I know her granny keeps up to date with my blog - so Hello Granny Biggs! Amy let me play on her gym, which is very cool, and I brought her a nice giraffe to play with as well as a new grobag, plus I lent her some of the clothes that I've grown out of - there's a lot of those, I can tell you! I'm going to be seeing Granny and Grandpa Meikle and Great Auntie Liz tomorrow, and then Aunty Shellie and Uncle Chris on Sunday, what a nice weekend I have ahead of me.

Monday 18th February 2008

Well, I'm getting an early night tonight, as I feel very under the weather. I've got the nasty sickness bug that's beeen going around, which afflicted my NCT pals last week. I've been very sick today, so poor mummy has had to change her and my clothes several times. I hope I didn't give it to my pals Oscar and Gene yesterday. We spent a lovely day together with our mummies and daddies. It was the first time we'd all been together with daddies too since we all left the hospital. Oscar and I held hands again, which was very cool, but I was starting to feel a bit ill, and had to have my nappy changed a lot, so I wasn't as well behaved as the boys, who were models of good behaviour! Gene played on his stripey mat, and Ocar sat on everyone's lap and giggled and larked around. I was worried that Oscar would think I'd got rather fat, but he told me that he liked me just the way I was, so I felt very pleased. You can see Oscar and me sitting on his mummy's lap in the picture. On Saturday I saw godfather Ben, who brought me a lovely new book called ' That's not my monster', but I wasn't really very good for him and daddy whilst mummy was away in London. I screamed a lot and wouldn't eat my nice dinner that mummy had left out for me. I need to learn that mummy can't always be there when I want her to be. I'll be spending a bit of time by myself at nursery this week, so that will help me to get used to not having mummy around all the time. I had an email from my pal Ujjwal today. He was with me in Special Care too. He's a little bit younger than me, and is doing very well. He now weighs 15lb 12oz, and is going to start on solid food this week. Good luck Ujjwal. Anyway, fingers crossed I feel better soon, I don't like being sick. It's horrid. I'll be 6 months corrected age on Wednesday, by the way (8 and a half months real age). Aren't I growing up fast?

Friday 15th February 2008

This week has been less hectic than anticipated, for a number of reasons, most of them to do with one person or another being ill. Godmother Becky had the flu so we couldn't visit her in Birmingham, and then I had a little cold and cough, so mummy and I thought it was best to steer clear of new little baby Amy in London (daughter of Simon and Katie), so that I wouldn't infect her with nasty germs. But here's a picture of Amy anyway - isn't she sweet? I'm going to visit her next week, and tell her all about how sleeping through the night is the way forward! But I've still had fun. I went for a lovely walk with my pals Ava and Alex on Tuesday- that's them in their buggies in the pictures, and then on Thursday I went over to see my aunty Emma, who is ready to pop out the twins at any moment - they aren't actually due for another 4 weeks, but I think my aunty would be more than happy for them to come now! Then today I've had a really exciting time, as I visited my new nursery for the first time - you can see it in the picture - doesn't it look lovely? I spent an hour there with mummy, and met two of the nice ladies who'll be looking after me - Emma and Martine. I'm so excited. They were really nice and played with me a lot. Next week mummy will leave me there for a whole hour by myself to see how I get on - I can't wait. Then I went to have lunch with my mate Alex, before off to the pub to see Nia, Amelia and Imogen, to have a few drinks and catch up on the gossip. There's lots to catch up on. They've all had a nasty tummy bug, which sounded horrid, but luckily everyone's better now. Anyway once we got home mummy and I decided that
I should have another go at eating blueberries. Well, as you can see, I think that smearing them all over myself is just as much fun as it was a couple of months ago. You can see my before and after pics - I think mummy anticipated I might make a bit of a mess, so captured my blueberry beard on camera! Other news is that I'm practising hard with my sitting up. I can sit up by myself for short periods of time under strict supervision, as I'm keen on doing backflips, which isn't very sensible with hard wooden floors around. I don't think it will be long before I can sit up properly though, I'm definitely improving. I'm looking forward to a Sunday chill out with Oscar and Gene this weekend. We're going to the Red Lion in Long Compton for Sunday lunch.

I'll also be seeing Godfather Ben tomorrow. He and daddy are going to look after me whilst mummy goes down to London to see some friends, so I need to be on my best behaviour. I'll see how I feel - I may be good, I may not be - he he....

Monday 11th February 2008

It's been frosty cold today, so mummy wrapped me up warm when we went out in my fluffy pink coat. Mummy bought it for me ages ago, but it only just fits me now! Mummy's tummy is much better, but not quite better enough for us to go to Buggyfit, so instead we had lunch withmummy's friend Fiona today. Fiona used to work at Vodafone with mummy. I was very well behaved for her, and smiled and giggled a lot, so she was very impressed. I've eaten lots of cheese today - I ate some little bits of cheese as a starter to my lunch, and then mummy put some cheese into my bolognese for main course, which was delicious. And then I had some more cheese in my tea with tomato, carrot and basil - yum, yum. I've even started eating berries now - I've had some raspberry yoghurt today, which I really liked. I'll try blueberries again soon - they made me a bit sick the last time I had them a few months ago, but I think I might be ready to have them now my tummy is a bit bigger and stronger. I'm really enjoying trying all these interesting flavours - bring on the curry - mine's a lamb bhuna!

Friday 8th February 2008

After singing at French music this morning with my friend Arthur and his daddy Robin, I went to meet my boyfriend Oscar and my mate Gene today. We had lunch together with our mummies, and all caught up on the latest gossip. I was supposed to sleep through lunch, but it was far too interesting, so I stayed awake the whole time to natter with the boys. Gene has recovered well from his hernia operation and is now 13lb. Oscar is also well. He was telling me that his new house is coming on a treat, and that his granny is now back from France for good, so he will get to see her a lot more. We were all talking about how quickly time was passing, and how 1st birthdays will be upon us before we know it. Mummy had her stitches out today, so I went with her to hold her hand and make sure she was okay. Mummy tells me that daddy is in Luxembourg today, then he'll be travelling to Cologne, before coming home on Sunday, and I'll be going with mummy to pick him up from the airport. Whilst daddy's away mummy and I have done lots of cooking. We've pureed lots of yummy dinners for me. Tonight we've made tomato, carrot and cauliflower puree with basil and cheddar cheese! I'm very much looking forward to trying that, maybe I'll have it for my tea tomorrow. Talking of tomorrow, I'm seeing cousin Daniel and the rest of the family tomorrow to celebrate Granny Meikle's birthday, so I need to sleep well to make sure I'm on top form. Night, night.

Thursday 7th February 2008

Well, daddy's away on a Stag Weekend, so I've been finding other ways of amusing myself whilst he's not here to play with me. I've been bouncing in my bouncer, and meeting new people. Today I met Will and Phyl, some of mummy and daddy's friends. Mummy used to babysit for Will and Phyl's children when she was younger. Anyway they came down to see me, and meet me for the first time. They've been looking at my blog since I was born, so they were pleased to finally meet me in person rather than looking at photos of me. They bought me a lovely present. It's a silver bangle with my name engraved in it. Isn't it lovely? I was very pleased, and I shall wear it when I'm big enough - but maybe only on special occasions! Mummy is starting to feel better, but her tummy is still sore, and I don't help by wriggling around and kicking her when I'm feeding. I also don't help by waking up in the night because of my teeth. I've woken up at about 4.30am three nights on the trot now, so I'm going to try to stay asleep tonight, as daddy is away, and mummy and I need our beauty sleep, especially as I'm seeing boyfriend Oscar tomorrow after my French singing class with my friend Arthur. Maybe I'll have a tooth to show him. I'm sure I'll have one soon, as I just can't keep my hands out of my mouth at the moment. Lots of my friends are getting teeth, so I'm sure I'll be next. I'll keep you posted. Oh and by the way - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GRANNY MEIKLE FOR TOMORROW. lots of love xxx

Sunday 3rd February 2008

Another month has gone by. I can't believe it's February. That means it's Granny Meikle's birthday month, and that I start nursery next month! My twin cousins might even be born this month - I hope they're not born on 29th February, as then they'll only have a birthday every 4 years! Mummy came back safe and sound from the hospital on Thursday - a bit bruised, but otherwise okay. While she was at the hospital I went to the doctors with Daddy and Granny to check that my cold was nothing sinister. The doctor thought I was fine, and she was right. I feel a lot better now, although I still have a little cough. Some of mummy's friends came to look after her on Friday afternoon, and I tried to be on my best behaviour, so that I didn't tire her out too much, but I do like her to hold me and play with me a lot, otherwise I can get in a bit of a mood, so I don't think I did a very good job of being good...Mummy and Daddy took me into Oxford yesterday to have lunch and buy some bike gear for Daddy. We also met up with my friends Emma, Arthur and Matthew and their mummies Heather and Dorothy. Today I went to my friend Ava's baptism. Daddy had to work, so he stayed at home, and Mummy and I went by ourselves. I tried to be good during the service, but it was really difficult - poor Mummy had to jiggle me up and down and feed me to keep me quiet! Ava looked very nice in her pretty white gown, but got a bit upset when the vicar poured water on her head! I'm having my baptism in August, so if it's hot, then maybe I'll enjoy having a dip in the water to keep cool Anyway, off to bed I go - and I've got some big girls pyjamas to wear. Don't I look grown up? By the way Gene's hernia operation went okay, and he is back home safe and sound. Well done Gene - I'll see you on Friday matey.
