Wednesday 11th July 2007

Hooray! Today has not been the usual Black Wednesday! Infact today has been the total opposite. Mummy arrived this morning to see me, only to find that I had been transferred to the Special Care Nursery.Mummy was very surprised, as I am supposed to be off antibiotics before I go there, but there were other babies that are more sick than me, who needed my space in the High Dependency Unit. I may get moved back if a space becomes free again. It's lovely in the Special Care Nursery. It's really quiet and relaxed, and mummy could hold me for over an hour. I tried breastfeeding again, and managed to catch a few drips! I really miss my friend Oscar, and my next door neighbour Gene. I hope the boys can manage without me, and that they'll be able to join me in the Special Care Nursery soon. Check out my stripey outfit - Granny Judy bought it for me. Its says 'I love Mummy and Daddy' on the front, which I do! You're probably wondering what the weird pot on my head is. Basically the cannula in my arm stopped working again, so the doctors had to change it yet again, and could only find a good vein in my head. This time they put this pot over it to make sure I didn't knock it out of place. This is particularly irritating as it makes it difficult to lie in certain positions. But I need to have a cannula in for at least another week. The Nurse Practitioner told mummy today that my blood cultures are now showing negative, but that I need to continue with the nasty antibiotics for about another week, and then as long as the cultures stay negative, I can stop taking them. So I will carry on being a human pin cushion for a little bit longer.

Hi Harriet

Your move from the High Dependency Unit is wonderful news.

Now Harriet, for those of us who haven't yet met you, it's great to see pics of you, so do you think you could just humour us, and tolerate the camera. Photo number two tonight makes it very plain that you are rather bored, big yawn, and by the time photo number three is being taken, well...... Is that your hand telling the camera 'go away'? You have a very determined glint in your eye.

It's good to see you looking so bright.

Lots of love from Phil & Will

What an amazing day you've had Harriet. I'm not surprised that Mummy was surprised! Is it really true what they say... that the doors 'swish' when you press a button to open them? That it's like a space-age planet? (not that I know what one of those is). Is it true that you forget about your friends in the class below you? Mummy will see your Mummy tomorrow, which is sooner than I'll see you I'm sure. Have sweet dreams and pink ice creams xxx

Hello Harriet

So you've moved 'house' again - three times in just over a month!! That even beats mommy and daddy's record for moving. It sounds as though your new residence is a very peaceful place to be. I hope you will able to stay there.
See you Saturday - I can't wait
lots of love Granny J xxxx
